What to do this week
Four steps, in this order, and the first one is the one people get wrong.
- Do not pull at it, pick at it or try to push it back down. A lifted corner is a small repair. A torn piece of film is a replaced panel.
- Photograph it in daylight, with something for scale, and note the date. If this becomes a warranty conversation, the photograph on the day is worth more than a description a month later.
- Keep pressure away from it. No pressure washer anywhere near that panel, and no automatic wash at all until it is sorted: can a PPF car go through a car wash.
- Call the installing shop and ask them to look at it. Most edge lift caught early is a re-tuck or a small section replacement, and most shops would rather do that than argue about it later.
Which warranty applies
The film manufacturer warrants the film against manufacturing defects. The terms consulted name yellowing, cracking, blistering and delaminating, and they exclude damage from outside forces and from improper wash techniques.
Delamination is worth distinguishing from edge lift. Delamination is the film's own layers separating, which is a material defect. Edge lift is the film letting go of the paint, which is usually about how the edge was prepared and tucked. They look different: a delaminating film goes cloudy or bubbly within itself, while a lifting edge is a clean separation at the boundary.

Keeping the rest of the film flat
Almost every preventable cause is about water pressure and abrasion at an edge.
Respect the post-installation wait, which is published at 48 hours for clear films and 72 for colour film by one manufacturer. Keep pressure washers wide, far back and never aimed at an edge; published installer guidance commonly puts a floor at twelve to eighteen inches and one manufacturer asks for three feet on its colour film. Skip brush tunnels entirely, because bristles catch edges by design.

When lifting means the film is done
Lifting that appears across several panels at once, in year six or later, on film that is also hazing or yellowing, is not a repair. That is the adhesive reaching the end of its service life, and the honest answer is removal and replacement.
