Operations plan, $299/mo

An AI front desk for auto shops that answers the call you missed

The quote you promised, drafted before you hang up. Booked straight into your calendar. On the Operations plan, $299 a month, one business number included.

No credit card required, free for 14 days, cancel anytime

A recreation of the front desk at work. At 11:42am a call to Summit Detail Co goes unanswered. Service VIN texts the caller back from the shop's own business number: "Hi — sorry we missed your call! It's Summit Detail Co. How can we help?" The caller asks what full front paint protection film on a Model 3 costs. Service VIN drafts a quote from the shop's own catalog — Full Front PPF on a Tesla Model 3, hood, fenders, mirrors and bumper, $1,450 — and holds it for the shop to approve before it sends. The job is then written into the calendar for Thursday at 9:00am in Bay 2. A product demonstration with a sample conversation; the price is a specimen figure, not a measured result.

The short answer

What is an AI front desk for an auto shop?

An AI front desk for auto shops answers the calls nobody reached. On a genuine miss it texts the caller back from the shop's own number within seconds, drafts the quote from the shop's own catalog and prices, and books the job into the shop's own calendar. The shop approves everything it sends.

  • Calls ring your phone first, so you always get first refusal. Only a genuine miss, meaning no answer, busy, failed or cancelled, starts the text.
  • The draft is grounded in your own service catalog, your own prices and the customer's own history, so it cannot invent a figure you do not sell.
  • Nothing reaches a customer until you approve it. Draft first is the default and autopilot is a switch you flip when it has earned it.
  • It runs beside whatever you use today. There is no migration to schedule before it starts earning, and one business number is included in the price.

Bottom line: It is included on the Operations plan at $299 a month in US dollars, and it is not a voice robot: on this plan a person still answers the phone and the AI picks up the callers you could not.

The path

Missed call text back software, in three steps

Not a chatbot bolted onto a website, and not a voicemail robot. Three steps that end with a job on your calendar — the same three steps your front desk would do if it never went to lunch.

  1. 0s

    1. The call you couldn't take gets answered

Calls ring your phone first — you always get to pick up. On a genuine miss the caller gets a text from your own business number within seconds, in your shop's voice, while they're still in the parking lot deciding who to try next.

  2. +8s

    2. The quote you promised gets drafted

It reads what the caller actually asked for and drafts the estimate off your own service catalog and your own prices — the same catalog your quotes, bookings and jobs already run on. Nothing is invented, and nothing goes out until you say so.

  3. +40s

    3. The job lands in your calendar

When they say yes it books into your real calendar against your real bay and installer availability — not a callback list, not a note for someone to action tomorrow. The job is on the board before you've washed your hands.

Illustrative sequence.

Do the maths yourself

What's it worth to you?

We can't show you another shop's results, because we don't have any to show yet. What we can do is put your own numbers next to the price.

Your arithmetic

About 4 jobs a month — $6,500 of work.

If one of those becomes a job this month, the front desk paid for itself 5.0× over.

Your numbers, not ours. We don't publish other shops' recovery rates. The Operations plan is $299 a month, so the multiple above is one job of the size you typed against one month of the offer.

One price, one number, everything below

What $299 a month buys

The whole operation, with your business number and the front desk that answers the calls you miss. Billed monthly in US dollars, or $2,990 a year — two months free.

Past the allowance it's 3¢ a segment and 4¢ a minute, metered rather than cut off so a conversation never dies mid-thread. Extra numbers are $40 a month. The credit allowance is enough that a typical month costs nothing extra.

Why an AI receptionist for auto shops has to know your prices

An answering service takes a message. A chatbot repeats your website back at people. The difference here is that it's grounded in your shop and allowed to write into it — so the conversation ends in a quote and a booking instead of a note.

It knows your real services and real prices

It answers out of your catalog — your packages, your tiers, your film, your labour — so a caller asking about a full front on a Model 3 hears your number, not a guess dressed up as one.

It can actually write into your shop

Reading a website and answering nicely is the easy half. This one creates the quote, holds the slot and books the job in the system your shop already runs on, because it is that system.

You approve everything it sends

Every agent runs in draft-first mode until you decide otherwise, so nothing reaches a customer that you haven't seen. Autopilot is a switch you flip when it has earned it, not a default you have to catch.

Your numbers, not ours. We don't publish other shops' recovery rates, so there are no numbers on this page pretending to be one. Here's the honest version: a full front or a wrap is worth several months of the Operations plan to your shop. You already know what one of those is worth to you — the question this answers is how many of them called while nobody could pick up.

One thing we tell you before you sign up, not after.

Canadian shops start texting from their own number right away. US shops text once A2P carrier registration clears — we file it for you and it usually takes about one to three weeks. Calls, recordings, transcripts and follow-through work from day one either way.

Questions, answered

What happens the first time I miss a call?

Calls route through Service VIN to a phone you actually answer, so you get first refusal on every one. If it goes unanswered — no answer, busy, failed or canceled — the caller gets a text from your shop's own number within seconds, and their reply lands in your inbox beside their quotes and jobs. Catch the call yourself and nothing sends.

Can it text my customers on day one?

In Canada, yes — Canadian carriers don't require 10DLC registration, so a Canadian shop is texting from its own number as soon as the number is live. In the United States, texting activates after A2P carrier registration. We file that for you, and it typically takes about one to three weeks. Calling, call recording, transcripts and the rest of the front desk work in the meantime — only outbound US texting waits on the carriers.

Does an AI answer my phone?

Not on this plan, and that's deliberate. The Operations plan is the text-and-quote path: you and your team still answer the phone, and the AI picks up the callers you couldn't. Service VIN does have an AI voice receptionist, but it is an opt-in beta that lives on Command — we'd rather under-promise it than headline something still in beta.

Where do the prices in a drafted quote come from?

Your own catalog. The agents are grounded in the services, packages and prices your shop already sells, plus the customer's history and vehicle when we have it. They are built not to invent a price: if something isn't in your catalog, it asks you instead of guessing. That grounding is the whole reason a generic receptionist bolt-on can't do this job for a film shop.

Do I have to move my whole shop over first?

No. That's the point of starting here — there's no migration to schedule and no data to move before it can earn its keep. You set up your number, point it at your services and prices, and it starts answering. Bringing quotes, jobs, invoices and history across is something you do when you want to, not something you do before you find out whether this works.

What comes with the business number?

One business number is included in the $299 — local or toll-free, in any Canadian or US area code, and your whole team works it with no per-seat charge. Each line includes 500 text segments and 200 talk minutes a month; past that it's 3¢ a segment and 4¢ a minute, metered rather than cut off so a conversation never dies mid-thread. Extra numbers are $40 a month each.

What's the difference between this and the Essentials, Growth and Command plans?

They are the same system at different depths — quotes, bookings, jobs, invoices, inventory and the AI crew, priced from $79 a month. The Operations plan is the rung the front desk lives on: everything in Growth plus the calling suite — recordings, transcripts, summaries and one-tap follow-through — and a business number in the price. Command sits above it for shops that want the AI voice receptionist beta or up to 3 shops under one login. You can move between them any time from Settings; changes are prorated.

What does it cost to try, and can I leave?

Every new shop starts with 14 days free, nothing charged for 14 days. Pick the Operations plan at signup and that is what your trial runs — including a business number, so the phone side is actually working while you try it. After the 14 days it starts at $299 a month in US dollars, month to month; cancel any time from Settings, before or after. If you do, your records stay yours: quotes, customers, jobs, photos and history remain readable and exportable.

Is this an AI receptionist for tint, PPF and detailing shops specifically?

It is built for them, yes, and that shows in what the draft knows rather than in the marketing. A film shop's caller asks for a full front, a windshield strip or a five-year ceramic package, and the draft has to come back with the coverage, the film and the price that shop actually sells. A horizontal receptionist bolt-on reads a generic FAQ instead. Repair, tire and lube shops run the same front desk beside the shop system they already have.

Is it legal to text a customer back automatically in Canada?

Canada's anti-spam law treats service and appointment messages differently from marketing, and the rails here are built for that distinction rather than around it: the missed-call reply is a transactional answer to a call the customer placed, marketing messages are counted against a separate per-customer limit, quiet hours and opt-outs are enforced in code rather than in a setting somebody can forget, and every opt-out is honoured across the whole shop. The SMS policy page sets out the rules the product follows.
