These figures come from one installer's published price guide, dated 28 January 2026 and read on 22 September 2026. They are quoted rather than blended with other sources, so you can open the page and check every cell.

Why two tint quotes differ
Three things, in order of how much they move the price.
First, the film tier. A ceramic film costs the shop several times what a dyed film does, and that difference is most of the gap between a 200 dollar job and a 600 dollar one. Ask for the film line by name, not just the brand: most manufacturers sell a budget line and a flagship line under the same badge.
Second, the glass. A steeply raked rear window on a coupe, a Tesla style one-piece rear glass, or quarter windows with awkward curves all add labour. Some shops price by window count and some by vehicle, which is why a quote can look strange until you ask which.
Third, the shop. A clean room, computer-cut patterns and a lifetime installation warranty cost more to run than a bay with a razor blade and a heat gun, and it shows in how the film looks at the edges after two years.

What is usually not in the quoted price
A tint quote is normally for the side and rear glass. Four things sit outside it often enough to be worth asking about before you book.
- Removing existing film. Published at roughly $25 to $75 per window, and more on a rear window with defroster lines. Many shops discount or waive it when you are buying new film from them.
- The windshield. A full windshield film is a separate line, and legality varies by state and province, so ask the shop what they can fit where you live.
- The visor strip. Published at $20 to $50 and almost never included by default.
- A warranty in writing. Most manufacturers warrant their film against bubbling, peeling and colour change; the shop warrants the installation. Two documents, and you want both named.
Before you book
Get the film line, the shade for each window, the warranty and the removal charge in writing, and ask how long the car will be there. A good tint job on a mainstream car is usually a few hours, not a day.
Then leave the windows alone. The film is not cured when you drive away, and rolling a window down too early is the single most common way a new tint job goes wrong. The timetable is when can you roll windows down after tint.

Is ceramic tint worth the extra money?
If your complaint is heat rather than looks, yes: ceramic films reject far more infrared at the same visible shade, so you can run a lighter, more legal tint and still feel the difference. If you only want privacy, carbon film does that for less.
Does tint cost more on an SUV?
Yes. Every published guide prices SUVs above sedans, typically $50 to $200 more for the same film, because there is more glass and the rear window is larger and more awkward.
