Maintenance plan
Definition
What goes into a detailing maintenance plan?
- Maintenance plan is a recurring package — periodic washes, coating top-ups or inspections — that turns one-off details into predictable, recurring revenue and keeps customers coming back on a cadence instead of only when something goes wrong.

FAQ
Maintenance plan questions, answered
What goes into a detailing maintenance plan?
Usually a wash on a cadence the customer can live with, an inspection of the film or coating, a top-up or decontamination where the product calls for one, and a record of what was found. The cadence is the product: it is what turns a one-off detail into a relationship and gives the shop a booked calendar it can plan around.
How should a maintenance plan be priced?
From the bay time each visit takes and the products it consumes, the same way any other job is priced, and then presented as a recurring amount rather than a per-visit one. Pricing it as a discount on a wash list is how it ends up losing money on the visits that take longest, which are the ones a coated car needs most.
Do maintenance plans protect a coating warranty?
Many manufacturer warranties require periodic inspection or maintenance by an authorised installer, so a plan is often how a customer keeps the cover they paid for. Read the product's own terms rather than promising in general, and put the requirement in writing at handover so the plan is sold as what it is.
